The instant before they are to be struck by an attack, the user replaces themselves with a block of wood or something similar.
Preparation
- You must prepare the substitution as an Action at least one turn prior to activating it.
- You must clearly state that that is what you are preparing. If you attempt to just throw one out without preparation, we can, and will have a staff member evaluate your use of it.
Keeping Preparation
- While you are able to prepare a substitution several turns ahead of activating it, keeping it prepared requires the use of an Utility Concentration Slot as explained in the Jutsu section of the system rules.
Activation
- The substitution will be activated on any turn after it has been prepared when you would be hit by a damaging attack.
- You can’t choose to stop it from activating.
- Activating the Substitution takes a Reaction.
- You must also be aware of the attack coming towards you. Unless you're expecting to be attacked from behind, or just have a Byakugan active, you can't substitute out of the way of a surprise attack or something else you wouldn't be aware of.
- After using your substitution, if you are still within the range of the attacks performed after the one that triggered it, you are still susceptible to being hit by them, so defend accordingly and take into account the range of this technique.
